Lemonade Diet Detox Program

There's been a lot written about the Lemonade Detox Diet - often referred to as the Master Cleanse. Many people swear by it as it is so simple and only has pure ingredients. Equally there are lots of us who either think it's not good, and some think it's even dangerous.

Stanley Burroughs came up with the lemonade or master cleanse in 1941 in Hawaii.

Here's what you do:
Drink 6 to 12 servings of lemonade (10 oz glass) each day.
The lemonade is made as follows: For one 10 oz glass: 2 tablespoons of organic lemon juice 2 tablespoons of organic grade B maple syrup 1/10 teaspoon of ground cayenne pepper (or as much as you can taste up to 1/10th) 10 oz good quality filtered water

That's it. If you want to you can drink additional water or herbal tea.

To put this in perspective, just drinking lemon juice for ten days seems rather weird but certainly your body can cope with that easily. It may not be pretty, and you will probably become hungry or fed up as the days progress, but going without solid food for so long is not such a big deal.

I have done this several times and although I was not hungry, I so missed solid food and often thought about food. It makes you realize that we are surrounded by food all the time. If you don't go to the supermarket, the mall, the next fast food restaurant, your favorite restaurant, you are inundated with TV commercials about food and what you should eat and when. We even have the food channel which is dedicated to food 24/7!!

It is recommended that you do the full 10 days. Some people do it for much longer. However, I believe that if you only manage to do it for several days, you have helped your body. We do normally put into our body lots of food that are chemically laden, GMO products and often fish has mercury in it and meat has antibiotics. This means our digestive system is often compromised. Fasting or doing the Lemonade Diet Detox gives your system a much needed rest as it hardly needs to digest anything whilst on the Detox programme. Your whole GI tract can refresh and rejuvenate itself.

This leaves you feeling "clean" on the inside (yes, really), fresh and re-vitalized.
